Magnet features a picture of a hermit crab: Home is where the crabs are. As always, there is no charge to change or remove text.
Over 1,100 species of crabs make up the family who adopt shells and coral as their protective homes. When a hermit crab outgrows one shell, it finds a new one, sometimes ousting the current tenant. Most hermit crab species are nocturnal and live in salt water. One African species can live up to 70 years and one terrestrial species, called the coconut crab, grows up to 3 feet long.
